Executive Chef @ The Views Hotels

Octávio was born in Câmara de Lobos and at 11 years old, thanks to a strong family connection to gastronomy and food, he discovered his passion – to become a cook. At 15 anos, he graduated in the Escola Profissional de Hotelaria e Turismo da Madeira (Madeira’s Tourism and Hotel School), but it was all around the island, amongst traditions, gastronomic adventures and local knowledge, that he learned the most.
He’s one of the most creative Chefs of his generation, even today maintains an incessant search for training, for new techniques and for sharing and amplifying culinary knowledge. Passionate for all things natural that come from the land with an epicuriean vision of traditional ingredients in high-end cuisine. He personally cultivates organic gardens and dedicates himself to researching and studying typical ingredients on the island. Octávio is the author of the book “Receitas com Mel” (Recipes with Sugar Cane Molasses), an important archive of knowledge about Madeiran sugarcane honey. He presented the TV show “Sabores da Madeira” (Madeira Flavors) in RTP-Madeira. Octávio collaborates weekly in the radio show “Da Terra à Mesa” (From Farm to Table) in Antena1. He is the Executive Chef at The Views Hotels and Desarma Restaurant.
